MDS Extends Logistics Service to Drug Sector

Manufactirers' Delivery Services (MDS), a leading company in the outbound logistics market, has set up a National Pharmaceutical Distribution Cemter (NPDC) in Appap, Lagos, to take advantage of the steady increase in the demand for specialised distribution services for pharmaceutical products.

     

Mr. Ayo Ajayi, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, UACN Plc, who spoke at the commissioning ceremony of the center, recalled that the journey started about five years ago when a National paahrmaceutical Distribution Center was established in conjunction with GSK Pharmaceuticals, one of its key clients.

Ajayi said five other regional pharmaceutical hubs would be commissioned to complement its existing depots network over the next few months, adding that the online distribution framework of MDS would be formally launched early in the year. While reassuring esteemed clients of MDS of quality services, the UACN Managing director said the ultimate goal is to transform the firm into world-class supply chain management organization that provides total outbound logistics solutions to clients.

"I wish to assure you that in line with our mission and core values, we will continue to seek deeper understanding of your requirements and in spite of your and in spite of the challenges of our environment, deploy the necessary infrastructure and solutions to consistently deliver superior value to your business and customers", he said. He explained that the design and construction of the facility became imperative to support the distribution model and expand the capacity of the national distribution hub.

Ajayi expressed appreciation to Pfizer-Global Pharmaceuticals, the primary user of this facility for its patronage and support in part-funding the development of the facility.

Mr. Hakeem Ogunniran, Divisional, Managing Director of MDS said the NPDC was designed and built to world-class standards and facilities in line with Good Warehousing Practice (GWP).

To date, MDS has entered into agreements with companies and institutions such as Pfizer-Global Pharmaceuticals, Cipla-Evans, Nigerian-Chemicals Plc, Society for Family Health, Jagal pharma, Emzor Pharmaceuticals, TETA Pharmaceuticals Limited for the provision of distribution services in various part of the country.

With a network of 47 depots and 200 warehouses or distribution centers in 31 states, a catchment area of about 400 cities and villages, strong alliances with other leading logistics facilitators, experienced and tested human capital, MDS is set to consolidate on its leadership position in the logistics business in Nigeria.
